I founded Awaretron with the purpose of helping homeowners avoid the stress, expenses, and waste associated with water leak damage. Each year, water leaks result in $20 billion worth of damage in households and account for 10% of the average home's water usage in the United States, leading to a staggering 1 trillion gallons of wasted water (according to the EPA).

My motivation for starting this endeavor was driven by my personal experience with water damage remediation and repairs in my own home. I had to deal with the wastage of 30,000 gallons of water and collateral damage. When I began searching for solutions to prevent such incidents in the future, I found a lack of clear, technically sound, and reliable options.

Despite having more than 30 years of experience in the technology industry and a background in electrical engineering, I found it time-consuming and challenging to identify the right product. Over a span of four years, I installed and tested various solutions until I gained the expertise to identify the specific combination of product features that are effective and complementary. Unfortunately, such products are not always available or reliable at the appropriate price points from a single manufacturer. This led me to develop an approach to continuously find the best available combination of water leak prevention devices that can reduce the risk of significant water damage by over 90%.

While water leak protection technology primarily safeguards against water damage, it also offers the ecological benefit of reducing the waste of clean water. I firmly believe that reliable solutions for protecting against water damage should be accessible to all homeowners for their peace of mind. Homeowners should not need engineering knowledge or spend hours researching technology or experimenting through trial and error. Even after finding a suitable product, there remains the challenge of locating and scheduling the right installation expertise, spanning plumbing and electrical trades.
